So far, Auburn football has a very small recruiting class of 2023, and the Tigers could desperately use a few commits to bump them up in the rankings and ramp up the momentum on the recruiting trail.

A lot of the trouble the Tigers are facing stems from the questionable stability of the current coaching staff. Head coach Bryan Harsin had a rough first year on the Plains that involved a disappointing record, a frustrating end-of-season losing streak, many changes to the coaching staff, and the ridiculous saga of rumors that swirled around earlier this year.

Unfortunately, the circumstances leave many questions for recruits that can’t yet be answered. Will Auburn football find more success in 2022? After last season’s flat ending, the Tigers have put themselves in a situation where they will be forced to prove themselves on the field in order to win over highly-ranked recruits. Which leads to the next question…

Will this coaching staff be around after this year? No one wants to sign on for four years with a coaching staff that could be gone before they even arrive on campus. Recruiting is all about relationships, and coaches work for years to develop strong relationships with high school prospects, and, understandably, most kids are looking for a staff they can depend throughout their time in college.

Quite a few prospects are set to announce their commitments throughout the month of July, including wide receiver Daquayvious Sorey and defensive lineman Darron Reed on the 4th, defensive lineman Keldric Faulk on the 5th, safety Avery Stuart on the 6th, and several more towards the end of the month.

The next month will be critical for Auburn football in the world of recruiting, as adding commits to the roster will bring momentum to the Tigers but failing to earn commitments from any targets this summer would raise growing concerns.

Should we be panicking? Perhaps not yet, but we should be paying attention.
