Former Auburn football QB Nick Marshall–who led the Tigers to the 2013 season’s BCS National Championship game following an undefeated season–is still scoring touchdowns for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders. Marshall clinched a 41-20 victory for the Riders with a 80-yard pick-six with four minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Montreal Alouettes QB Trevor Harris had a solid 18/26 passing day but was picked off twice, including to Marshall. On that play, Harris successfully evaded the pocket and seemingly had a wide-open receiver on a flat route.
Then Nick Marshall, like an RKO from Randy Orton, came from out of nowhere and took it back to the house to take a 19-point lead that would finish at 21.
Auburn football fans were all over the highlight from one of the most dominant QBs in the history of gridiron on the Plains:
Auburn football QB-turned-professional DB Nick Marshall has been out of the NFL for five years
Those hoping for an NFL comeback for Nick Marshall may have to temper their expectations a bit, even with stellar stats (13 interceptions, five TDs the last four years at CB) during his career up in the ‘Great White North’.
Marshall’s last stint in the NFL ended with a steroid-related release and he is now on the wrong side of 30. Never say never, because if you did you would have been shown up Marshall’s Tigers back in 2013, but expectations should be tempered.
