With the summer over halfway out the door, the time for media days has rolled around for Auburn football and the rest of the programs in the Southeastern Conference. Coaches and player representatives from all 14 SEC programs will convene in Atlanta at the College Football Hall of Fame next week for the four-day event.
Attendees will make predictions about the final 2022 SEC standings in each division, as well as cast their votes for preseason All-SEC teams. Each program has been assigned one of the four days making up the event, starting at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Monday, July 18: Ole Miss, Missouri, LSU
Tuesday, July 19: Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt
Wednesday, July 20: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky
Thursday, July 21: Auburn, Texas A&M, Tennessee
Last year, head coach Bryan Harsin was accompanied to SEC media days by former quarterback Bo Nix and returning linebacker Owen Pappoe. This year, Coach Harsin has invited three players to join him in Atlanta to represent Auburn football: junior running back Tank Bigsby, senior tight end John Samuel Shenker, and senior edge rusher Derick Hall.
It should come as no surprise that Tank Bigsby will represent the Tigers in Atlanta. With one of the most well-known names on the roster, Bigsby is gearing up for an expanded role in Bryan Harsin’s second season on the Plains and is sure to make waves in what is likely his final year on the Plains.
After his record-breaking 2021 season and his decision to return to the team for an extra year, John Samuel Shenker is also a great choice. Known as a team leader, Shenker is expected to be the driving force in the tight ends room in 2022.
Finally, Derick Hall is another highly-touted team leader. The senior edge rusher could have declared for the NFL draft, but his return makes him a key piece of the Tigers’ defense and brings back an experienced leader for the younger edges.
Fans can catch all the action from SEC media days on the SEC Network next week.
