It’s safe to say that once the Tigers lost the Iron Bowl in 4OT and the regular season came to a close, the Auburn football program basically erupted into chaos. Immediately, rumors began to spread like wildfire–about potential player transfers, nonsense about head coach Bryan Harsin, and more.

One of the most impactful players considering entry to the transfer portal was star running back Tank Bigsby. The Iron Bowl wasn’t his best game, for a number of reasons, and the frustrating end of the season combined with uncertainty revolving around the coaching staff led Bigsby to consider other options.

However, while former QB Bo Nix made his exit to the pacific northwest, Bigsby ultimately decided that the Plains was the best place for him to be, and since then he has doubled down on improving himself and his game for the 2022 season, which is likely his final season in college football.

Bigsby opened up on his decision to remain on the Auburn football team this week in Atlanta, where he traveled with Bryan Harsin, Derick Hall, and John Samuel Shenker to represent the Tigers at SEC Media Days:

"“I looked back and remembered why I came to Auburn. Me leaving would be running away from my problems. I had to put my foot down and I feel like I made the right decision,” Bigsby said."

Harsin called Bigsby one of the most improved leaders on the team throughout the offseason, and praised his work ethic in preparing for the season ahead. After finishing 2021 with 1,099 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, Bigsby is expected to have an expanded role in the Tigers’ new offense, so we can expect more monster stats from the running back in 2022.

With a team that has grown as leaders, friends, and teammates throughout a trying offseason, Tank Bigsby and the Tigers are prepared to take on the world this fall.
