Auburn Tigers HC Bryan Harsin had high praise for one of his transfer receivers that came to the Plains via the portal this offseason. Former LSU wideout Koy Moore, to be specific, was the recipient of praise from the Boise native.
While speaking of Moore, Harsin said that ‘he’s just got a presence about him when he showed up.’ Given the lack of defined featured pass-catchers with the room losing the likes of Demetris Robertson (to the NFL) and Kobe Hudson (to UCF), that should be music to every Tiger fan’s ears.
Moore is one of the Power Five transfers in the WR room that Harsin and new WR coach Ike Hilliard reeled in the past two months. The other was Trussville product Dazalin Worsham, who transferred from Miami.
Bryan Harsin is expected to use Koy Moore in his WR rotation this season
Matthew Brune of the LSU Tigers 247Sports site Geaux247, who covered Moore for the past two years in Death Valley, expects the former Bayou Bengal to be apart of Bryan Harsin’s revamped receiving corps.
Brune said that ‘he can definitely be a possession-type receiver’ and someone ‘who has pretty reliable hands.’ He added that ‘he’s not a burner by any means, but I think he can be a smart enough player.’
He expanded upon that, saying that he can definitely play at the SEC level:
"“That 2020 season showed me enough potential where I’m like, okay, he can play at an SEC level. I’m not sure exactly what happened in the 2021 season where that caused him to leave so I can’t speak on that, but if nothing else, he has the ability to a degree. He has the ability to play at an SEC level which he’s proven in 2020. I think he’s a fine player, and I would expect him to at least be in the rotation for Auburn.”"
We shall see where Moore fits into the WR rotation–if Fly War Eagle were to guess, it’d be behind Shedrick Jackson and competing with Ja’Varrius Johnson for the WR2 spot–but it sounds like he will fit somewhere.
