Since Auburn football legend Cam Newton won the Heisman Trophy back in 2010, there have been two non-quarterbacks to win the award — with both (Derrick Henry, DeVonta Smith) being from the University of Alabama.

There used to be joy in pointing out the lack of a quarterback from Tuscaloosa ever winning the award, but Bryce Young’s Heisman win during a season in which several defenders, including his teammate Will Anderson, likely deserved it more now ends the streak of Crimson Tide QBs not bringing home the hardware.

With that aside, if you’re trying to make an educated Heisman prediction about the upcoming 2022 college football season, the conversation most definitely starts and ends with the quarterback position.

The SEC West has some of the most talented arms in the country, which is part of the reason the Auburn football schedule each year is ranked among the toughest to contend with in the entire country.

We have learned that the Tigers may be using several signal-callers in 2022, so with that, Fly War Eagle ranks every SEC West QB room:

No. 7: LSU (Myles Brennan, Jayden Daniels, Garrett Nussmeier)

Jayden Daniels has the most in-game experience between the three Bayou Bengals QB options, while Myles Brennan has been in Baton Rouge since the 2017 season. Is it the latter’s time to finally take over as the starter, which was the plan ‘Coach O’ had in place post-Joe Burrow, or will Daniels leverage his 29 games running the show for Arizona State into being the guy for first-year Tigers HC Brian Kelly?

If it’s neither, and Garrett Nussmeier ends up being the starter, that’d be a damning sign for this room. Given that Cam Wire is the only returning offensive lineman, it may not matter who the choice is since protection will be a weak spot in a conference famous for possessing the best pass-rushers in the country.
