Auburn basketball overreaction No. 4: Jaylin Williams won’t be the guy the Tigers build around in 2022-23

Justin Hokanson of On3 revealed back in April that after speaking with Auburn Tigers HC Bruce Pearl, Jaylin Williams was expected to have a big role during the upcoming 2022-23 season:

While it was just one game with international rules and a different ball than usual, it’s notable that the best players for Auburn were Yohan Traore, Johni Broome, and Dylan Cardwell and not Williams. This isn’t to say Williams didn’t show off his 3-point shot and offensive rebounding and was in general, improved.

But it’s not looking like he’ll be a focal point on the offense for the second season in a row if the other three bigs continue to perform at a high level.

Auburn basketball overreaction No. 5: Johni Broome could be the next Walker Kessler

We got a peak overreaction here. With Walker Kessler now in the NBA, the center position is in great hands with Dylan Cardwell and possibly even better hands with Morehead State transfer Johni Broome.

Broome averaged 16.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game last season, finishing with 23 double-doubles on the season and shot 55.5% from the floor. Bruce Pearl believes the lone incoming transfer will be a massive get, saying ‘He’s going to do great things for Auburn.’

Fly War Eagle foresees the same.
