Auburn basketball Twitter post-game memes are now an internationally recognized operation with the official State of Israel Twitter account acknowledging that they are here for the deep-fried fun.

While the Israel Foreign Ministry’s Digital Diplomacy team–the group that runs the social media account–admitted that ‘there’s a lot to unpack here,’ they also conceded that ‘we’re here for it’ as well.

Kudos to Justin Hokanson of On3 Sports for tagging the foreign country in a tweet that would later be quote-tweeted and lead to a shoutout of Auburn basketball fans the world over.

The 2022-23 Auburn basketball program looks ready after rout of Israeli U-20 National Team

Wendell Green Jr., Zep Jasper, and K.D. Johnson provided veteran quarterbacking from the backcourt, Allen Flanigan, Chris Moore, and Chance Westry all looked active ball-hawking around the perimeter and finishing at the rim, and the big man quartet of Johni Broome, Dylan Cardwell, Yohan Traore, and Jaylin Williams all looked perfect capable of banging for boards at the rim.

This all to say, Auburn basketball appears ready to make repeat run to an SEC regular season championship and aim higher than where the 2021-22 Tigers ended up during this past March Madness.

While any takeaway from battling another country’s under 20 national team is in essence an overreaction to an international exhibition that barely resembles a college basketball contest in the states, seeing a team that’s playing for the first time come together so quickly to move the ball well around the perimeter while also giving maximum effort on defense is a sight for sore eyes at the very least.

Let’s see how Bruce Pearl’s guys fair against the Israeli Select Team and the Israeli National Team this coming Sunday and Monday to see how this group really stacks up.
