Auburn football has a few precious weeks left to prepare for the 2022 season, and on Saturday the Tigers held an open practice for select Auburn University boosters, select alumni, and friends and family of the players at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The quarterbacks were a focus–as it appears T.J. Finley’s strong play has been superior to that of fellow transfer signal-callers Zach Calzada and Robby Ashford–but the weapons each QB has at his disposal were also addressed by Auburn football HC Bryan Harsin.

Two freshman standouts, Damari Alston and Camden Brown, were shouted out for having ‘notable scrimmage performances’ this past Saturday, which included a receiving touchdown for Brown.

Here was Harsin’s praise of the freshmen skill player duo:

"“We’ve got to start getting it a little bit more detailed moving forward. But I think those guys are all doing a good job.”"

Auburn football has a loaded RB room and a physical receiving corps

When it comes to pedigree, the Auburn football RB room is loaded with highly-rated talent which includes Alston, a four-star recruit and considered a top-five running back in the country by Rivals in the Class of 2022, perennial Heisman contender Tank Bigsby, sophomore standout Jarquez Hunter and Sean Jackson, who redshirted his freshman season in 2021.

As for the receiving corps, while short on experience, the Tigers boast a big, physical group featuring the six-foot-five Landen King, six-foot-four Ze’Vian Capers, six-foot-three Camden Brown, and six-foot-two Shedrick Jackson.

With significant depth at the RB position and plenty of pass-catchers with the stature to succeed in the SEC, Auburn football has the tools to outperform expectations — which range from Bryan Harsin being fired by mid-October to a repeat six-win season from 2021.

Don’t be surprised to see Alston punching in a few scores and Brown showcasing the spectacular through the air in 2022.
