Auburn football WR coach Ike Hilliard is contributing to the Tigers’ hype train on freshman receiver Camden Brown, who has steadily been raising his stock this offseason through his performance in camp.

The latest piece of hype comes in the form of Hilliard’s description of Brown’s work ethic — the first-year Bryan Harsin support staff member said Brown ‘is cut from a kind of an older school work ethic process,’ adding that ‘this setup is not foreign to him.’

“Now, it is just the details with the routes and the concepts and that sort of thing. Strong young human, I can tell you that now. Big body, big frame. Very, very mature for his age so I am excited about that.”

Of course, in sports and almost universally across life, the ‘old school’ label is one that notates a strong willed person who doesn’t quit and isn’t prone to blame others for their own failures like many Gen Z-ers default to.

These first-year Auburn football contributors are expected to break out in 2022

Camden Brown is one of several receivers that the coaching staff has spoken of capable of having a breakout year in 2022. Elsewhere, LSU transfer Koy Moore profiles as a potentially reliable set of hands given his SEC experience.

In the RB room, Damari Alston, a four-star recruit and considered a top-five running back in the country by Rivals in the Class of 2022, could be a surprising multiple touchdown scorer this coming season.

On the defensive side of the ball, trench transfers Jeffrey M’ba (via JUCO) and Jayson Jones (Oregon) should cause havoc up front and DBs DJ James (Oregon) and Craig McDonald (Iowa State) will cover the secondary.

Finally, Zach Calzada and Robby Ashford figure to get the chance to showcase what they can do under center as Bryan Harsin and Eric Kiesau evaluate whether a newcomer or incumbent starter T.J. Finley will be the choice.
