One of the biggest storylines surrounding Auburn football heading into Big Cat Weekend was the potential of a flip from UGA offensive line commit Bo Hughley. The 4-star offensive tackle has been committed to Georgia since last September, but the Tigers have been pushing hard for quite some time.

It was thought that a flipped commitment was a real possibility when Hughley was on the Plains for BCW at the end of July, but it didn’t happen. Not only that, but the UGA coaching staff jumped back on the offensive tackle and upped their communication, effectively quieting the buzz in the Auburn camp.

Midway through the month of August, Hughley says that his heart is with the Dawgs in Athens, but there could be a greater opportunity for playing time and fit at Auburn. That being said, the Tigers’ coaching staff remains in frequent communication with Hughley, and the buzz around his potential commitment was very real, per Auburn Undercover:

"I asked Hughley was the commitment edit I saw to Auburn real. He said “Yeah. I was close.” I asked did he plan on using it anytime soon. He said. “Go Dawgs!”"

It seems that Hughley’s recruitment could very likely be one that goes down to the wire, all the way to National Signing Day in February. And Auburn football isn’t the only program trying to flip him– Hughley told Auburn Live that both Ohio State and LSU have also made it known that they want him in their program, too.

It’s likely that the offensive lineman will take a visit to Auburn for a game this season, and once again it becomes clear how important it is that the Tigers win games in 2022 and have significant improvement from last year.

Though the recruitment of Bo Hughley is likely to go down to the wire, Auburn football still remains firmly in the mix for the 4-star offensive tackle.
