Auburn football is currently in the midst of a three-way quarterback battle that appears set to go down to the buzzer and then extend beyond that. While a starter will be named for the opener against Mercer, who that signal-caller will be won’t truly matter until Week 3 against Penn State.
Right now, to the chagrin of a portion of Tiger fans, T.J. Finley is looking like the surprise starter between the six-foot-seven second-year Auburn QB, Texas A&M transfer Zach Calzada, and Oregon transfer Robby Ashford.
During fall camp, Finley launched a ball that was caught by Shedrick Jackson that the official Auburn football Instagram caught and published. Several Tiger fans, however, called out the pass for being of the ‘lame duck’ variety.
Here were some reactions to Finley’s wobbly spiral:
This could be a long year 🥴 https://t.co/y0kT0cf7Je

Auburn football fans better get behind T.J. Finley
Fly War Eagle didn’t expect to be talking about QB1 T.J. Finley so close to the September 3rd opener at Jordan-Hare Stadium, but the LSU transfer, and Bryan Harsin’s first-ever QB addition via the portal, has earned that right.
While many fans may not be 100% behind the idea of Finley under center, they don’t have a choice but to support him or risk being a weird specific player fan of either Zach Calzada or Robby Ashford.
