The Auburn football coaching staff has certainly faced their fair share of adversity when it comes to recruiting the 2023 class. After the disappointing end to last season and the offseason investigation into head coach Bryan Harsin, it is easy for seeds of uncertainty to be planted in the heads of talented recruits.

However, the staff has not shied away from the challenge, and have continuously put forth effort to recruit prospects even if they have already given a verbal commitment to another program. The Tigers have pulled off one flip so far in this cycle, pulling 3-star edge rusher Ashley Williams away from Nebraska.

They are now trying to repeat the process and draw 3-star edge Conrad Hussey away from his commitment to the Penn State Nittany Lions. Hussey received an offer from Auburn football on August 15, and the Tigers will now try to make a late impression on the edge, who has been committed to Penn State since April.

Hussey hails from Fort Lauderdale, FL, and attends the same school that produced current Auburn freshman and fall camp standout Camden Brown. Hussey is ranked as the #20 safety in the recruiting class of 2023 and is the #55 recruit out of the Sunshine State.

Despite his commitment to the Nittany Lions, Hussey has continued to take visits over the summer, so there is clearly some wiggle room when it comes to his pledge to Penn State. In addition to visiting Happy Valley a few times, he also took a summer visit to Florida State’s campus. The Seminoles were pushing hard for Hussey in June, and Miami is another program to watch.

AllHurricanes reports that Mario Cristobal and Miami are pushing hard for the South Florida native, who calls Miami his “hometown team.” Though it may be a hard flip for the Tigers to pull off considering the other teams in contention, Conrad Hussey is very much a target for the Auburn football coaching staff.
