Undeniably, one of the strongest position groups on the Auburn football team is the running backs group. The Tigers have historically had plenty of talent at the position, and they tend to recruit running backs well.

Auburn is poised to have a powerhouse running backs room once again in 2022, led by Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter along with incoming freshman Damari Alston. RB coach Carnell Williams has kicked off the class of 2023 with a bang, as well, earning the commitment of Jeremiah Cobb.

The Tigers are still looking to take at least one more ball carrier in the class of 2023, and one emerging target is 4-star running back Roderick Robinson, who committed to UCLA in May but has not shut down his recruitment.

From San Diego, Robinson is ranked as the #268 overall recruit and the #15 running back in the recruiting class of 2023 as well as the #18 recruit out of the state of California. The schools he is hearing most from in addition to Auburn are Georgia, Tennessee, Oregon, Miami, and Texas A&M.

Robinson has used up two of his official visits at UCLA and Arizona, and is scheduled to officially visit Texas A&M when they host Miami in September. With two visits left, Robinson is considering a trip to the Plains for a game this fall.

According to Auburn Live, Carnell Williams has been a huge part of Robinson’s recruitment, and the running back could see himself developing well under Williams’ coaching:

"“I love the way he coaches his players and the relationships he has with them,” Robinson said. “They all seem to follow in his footsteps. He’s very knowledgable at what he does. He went to the league, so he has the blueprint. And he’s real player friendly when it comes to the way he coaches.”"

Though Robinson’s commitment to UCLA still remains firm, getting him out to the Plains for an official visit with Auburn football could be a game changer in the running back’s recruitment.
