Former Duke Athletic Director Kevin White was horribly critical of Auburn University for the way they handled the ouster of long-time AU AD Allen Greene — going as far to say that it was “terribly disturbing” and “utterly shameful” before calling out Auburn’s “political dysfunction” as “truly legendary.”
Greene, hired in January 2018 from the State University of New York at Buffalo, oversaw two College World Series in baseball and a Final Four in men’s basketball. He also had a hand in building a $92 million football facility slated to open later this year.
Greene’s fatal mistake may be him leading the search that ended in the hiring of Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin, whose tenure has been shrouded by an inquiry aimed at firing without cause. (It didn’t work.)
Between the inquiry and the sudden nature of Allen Greene’s dismissal, there is a ton to call out about the JABA mindset on the Plains by the university’s brain trust. Here was former Duke AD Kevin White’s unfiltered take on it all:

Stewart Mandel’s take on the Auburn departure of Allen Greene
As it turns out, Allen Greene leaving Auburn University is a highly unpopular happening amongst college football media. Fly War Eagle is certainly in that boat, having said before that this won’t help the football program exit this malaise.
Stewart Mandel had this to add about the Auburn AD job…
On a related note: Why would anyone ever want to be the AD at Auburn? https://t.co/W2R8RbKvST

Be careful not drown in all of the JABA, folks.
