Auburn Football Director of Football & Recruiting Relations Trovon Reed believes in T.J. Finley, who was recently announced as the Tigers’ starter for their Week 1 matchup against Mercer this coming Saturday, to lead the team as QB1.

Reed shared a tweet with that simple message on Sunday in support of a signal-caller who certainly has his fair share of detractors due to a deflating end to the 2021 season — where Finley was under center for the final three losses in a five-game slide to conclude that campaign.

That included the team’s bowl game against a double-digit winner in Houston at the Birmingham Bowl and a gut-wrenching loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in seven overtimes that saw the team blow a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter.

For the first time in his three-year career, Finley will be entering the season as the starter, though. He replaced Myles Brennan mid-way through his freshman season at LSU after an injury and then did the same last year after Bo Nix’s Auburn Football career ended with a broken ankle against Mississippi State on November 13th.

Why T.J. Finley could shock the world for Auburn Football in 2022

Not a single analyst, Fly War Eagle most certainly included, predicted T.J. Finley overcoming the odds and being named the Auburn Football starter under center in 2022. That he did is a testament to his mental fortitude.

Make no mistake: Finley has had to deal with an unfathomable amount of scrutiny from the Tigers fanbase, and even more so from opposing SEC fanbases. For someone to rise from the ashes and convince HC Bryan Harsin that he gives the team the best chance to win after the coaching staff went out and picked up two recruits is a testament to his mental fortitude and physical improvement.

War Damn T.J. Finley. Let’s ride Auburn Football.
