Auburn football’s recruiting class of 2023 is far and away from being completed, but is coming along steadily as the Tigers prepare to begin their second season under head coach Bryan Harsin. There are currently two committed wide receivers in the class of ’23, but it’s likely that the staff won’t stop with just Karmello English and Daquayvious Sorey.
One of the receivers moving up on the Tigers’ recruiting board is 4-star WR Adam Hopkins from Thomasville, GA. He is ranked as the #189 overall prospect and the #24 wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2023 and is the #17 recruit out of the Peach State.
Receivers coach Ike Hilliard is the primary recruiter for Hopkins, whose father compared his gameplay to that of the Tigers’ position coach, via Auburn Live:
"“My pops compares me to him,” Hopkins said. “My dad was like, ‘You don’t know who he is?’ He said, ‘He’s just like you.’”"
Hopkins went on to say that Auburn is recruiting him hard, but so are a lot of other schools. He expects to use all five of his official visits, only one of which he has taken already to Texas A&M. The wide receiver will visit Arkansas on October 1 and Kansas on November 5. His official visit to the Plains will take place on October 29 when the Tigers host the Razorbacks.
As far as his last official visit goes, there is no trip planned yet, but Hopkins’ father told 247 Sports that they’re working on getting in unofficial visits to Georgia Tech and Florida State.
Ike Hilliard has established himself as a force for Auburn football on the recruiting trail since joining the team earlier this year. He has already locked down two receivers for the Tigers and played a key role in securing the commitment of 4-star Karmello English.
Though there is clear competition for a pledge from Adam Hopkins, Hilliard resume as both a player and a coach put the Tigers in a good position.
