Former Auburn quarterback of three years Bo Nix will be leading his new team, Oregon, into battle this coming Saturday in a massive non-conference matchup for the perennial Pac-12 power against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Some fans may feel burned by the nature of Nix’s exit and want to see him lose — which, quite frankly is unfounded considering the way a portion of the fanbase treated him throughout his time on the Plains, and the real reason he chose Oregon was that Kenny Dillingham was hired as the Ducks offensive coordinator.
Justin Lee from the Opelika-Auburn News called out such behavior on his verified Twitter account on Wednesday night, citing the importance of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry over any personal grudge with Nix for giving Auburn two good years (2019, 2021) and one lackluster pandemic-stricken 2020 season.
Here was his shutdown of the idea that fans should hold a bigger grudge against Nix than they should against Auburn’s second-biggest rival in a quote tweet of a poll asking if they’d rather see Bo Nix get abused by UGA or light up the Dawgs’ defense:
Auburn lived and died by Bo Nix during his time on the Plains
Saturday Down South’s Jon Gold revealed a damning stat regarding Auburn’s performance during the Bo Nix era on the Plains. According to Gold, the Tigers were 1-5 when Nix had a passer rating under 95.
Evidently, Auburn lived and died by Nix’s performance, something that might not be the case with T.J. Finley and/or Robby Ashford this coming season with first-year play-caller Eric Kiesau vowing that the offense will be more focused on the running game.
