Auburn football: Tide fans troll Dabo Swinney saying he’s just Gene Chizik when he’s without generational QB and elite coordinators

Alabama Crimson Tide fans took aim at Dabo Swinney Monday night during Clemson’s opening game against Georgia Tech at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta a few miles from Bobby Dodd Stadium by comparing him to former Auburn football HC Gene Chizik.

That would be BCS National Championship-winning coach Gene Chizik to you, Bammers. Chizik only won one matchup of the four against the Crimson Tide, and Alabama even won the other three titles Chizik didn’t during his four-year stint on the Plains. But the ‘Camback’ will persist as the lasting memory of that era.

Swinney was ripped for the lack of dominance Clemson was displaying in the first quarter during their ACC opener against Georgia Tech in a game they came into as 24.5-point favorites. They finished the first half up 14-3.

It felt quite unnecessary for Gene Chizik to be catching strays during a game that had nothing to do with him, even if the current North Carolina Assistant Head Coach for Defense just saw his Tar Heels lit up for 61 points by Appalachian State.
