While Auburn football’s recruiting class of 2023 is not exactly where everyone may have hoped it would be by now, the delay in commits is somewhat expected after all of the offseason drama and the less-than-wonderful ending to head coach Bryan Harsin’s first season on the Plains.

However, if there is one area of recruiting that has taken a major boost in Harsin’s second year, it’s that of the wide receivers. So far, Ike Hilliard has proven to be an all-star hire for the Tigers, getting Auburn firmly back in the recruitment of Karmello English and pulling in a second 4-star receiver in Daquayvious Sorey.

Now it’s looking like the Tigers could be adding another 4-star WR to their 2023 arsenal. According to Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover, Hilliard has put Auburn football in prime position to earn the commitment of Adam Hopkins:

"Now Hilliard has slowly — and quietly — worked his way to the top of Hopkins’ recruitment, and has positioned Auburn in a prime spot to land his commitment. As Auburn slowly started to creep to the top it seemed like a surprise, as Auburn is only projected to lose Shedrick Jackson after the season and receiver doesn’t seem like a big need. But when it comes to the No. 189 player in the class and the No. 24 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite, it’s hard to pass on someone that talented if he wants to hop on board."

Hopkins, from Thomasville, GA, is ranked as the #189 overall prospect and the #24 wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2023 as well as the #17 recruit out of the Peach State. Hopkins unofficially visited Florida State at the end of July, and has official visits set up to Arkansas on October 1 and Kansas State on November 5.

He originally planned to officially visit Auburn in late October for the Arkansas game, but has moved his visit up to this weekend, September 10, and with a Crystal Ball Prediction to the Tigers from Steve Wiltfong, it’s very possible that Hopkins leaves the Plains this weekend as an Auburn football commit.

Despite being recruited by the likes of Texas A&M, Arkansas, and other programs, Ike Hilliard has put the Tigers in a good position with another 4-star wide receiver in Adam Hopkins.
