Auburn football has covered 0/2 spreads so far during the 2022 season as heavy favorites, but in Week 3 the tide will turn — the Tigers find themselves as underdogs for the first of many times this season as Penn State comes to the Plains for the second game of the two teams’ home-and-home.
Against San Jose State this past weekend, Auburn was far from sharp offensively–both T.J. Finley and Robby Ashford threw picks and almost a third of Tank Bigsby’s runs were negative yardage–and was even lit up for nearly 300 all-purpose yards against Spartans QB Chevan Cordeiro. The first half saw 75 penalty yards from both sides of the ball, indicative of a squad that was sloppy across the board. Blame it on the rainy weather, blame it on the quality of the opponent, blame it on the discipline the players and coaches lacked. No matter where the blame lies, the reality is that Auburn wasn’t focused.
This week is a different story. The Tigers are facing their first Power Five program of the year, and not just any; the team that handed Bryan Harsin his first loss of his Auburn football coaching career.
Will Sean Clifford tear up the Tigers secondary and hand AU its first loss in 2022, or will Auburn pick up its biggest upset since the Arkansas game last October? Fly War Eagle has your odds and a prediction for Week 2 (All lines courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook):

Penn State vs. Auburn prediction
This Saturday has a ton of hype because of all the teasers the Auburn football program has been dropping all over social media in regards to the team wearing orange facemasks/gloves/sleeves/jerseys(?!) but the game won’t be decided because of the shade of AU’s apparel — It’ll be determined by the Tigers’ ability to avoid penalties, get a push with their OL against a solid Penn State defensive front, and having its own pass rush muzzle Sean Clifford’s ability to sit in the pocket and let loose.
Betting on the Tigers winning with so much pressure is tough. These two teams combined for 48 points last year, which would have hit the over this time around. It’s more likely these two teams swelter in the sun and play a Big Ten-looking contest.
