Auburn football: 4-star wide receiver decommits from the Tigers
Heading into game three of the 2022 season, the Auburn football program is building much anticipation for their rematch with the Penn State Nittany Lions. The program continues to hint at the fact that the team might wear orange jerseys for the first time in forever, and fans are getting more hype by the day.
However, things have been slightly dampened by the breaking news from this morning that 4-star wide receiver Karmello English has decommitted from head coach Bryan Harsin and the Tigers. This comes as a bit of a surprise considering all the work that the Tigers put into getting back into English’s recruitment, and the way that English consistently told everyone that his best relationship was with Auburn football wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard.
English, who was the Tigers’ highest-ranked recruit so far, committed to the program on July 4, choosing Auburn over Michigan and Kentucky. Those schools continued to recruit him through his commitment, and according to Auburn Live, the receiver has been hearing quite a bit from Alabama (of course).
Whether or not the WR will be open to the Tigers moving forward is unknown, but his decommitment from the program comes just one day before Auburn is expected to pick up another 4-star receiver commit in Adam Hopkins.
English is ranked as the the #231 overall prospect and the #25 wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2023, and is the #16 recruit out of the state of Alabama. He was one of four in-state commits for Harsin and the Tigers, who now have seven total recruits in the class of 2023.
This is a huge weekend for recruiting, and it’s massively important that Auburn football impresses in the matchup against the Nittany Lions, especially because the Tigers need all the recruiting momentum they can get.
