This weekend, the Auburn football program will host the Penn State Nittany Lions on the Plains int he second game of the home-and-home series that began last season with the Tigers’ trip up to Happy Valley. After a tough loss on the road last season, the players are ready for a rematch.

The non-conference contest has the potential to be the biggest home game of the season for Auburn, for more reasons than one. First and foremost, the program has been putting out teasers all week regarding an orange uniform, but will it actually happen?

Aside from the uniform hype, this is also probably the biggest recruiting weekend for the Tigers, as well. With a loaded visitor list, it is imperative that the team impresses in order to get the recruiting momentum back up again, especially after the decommitment of 4-star WR Karmello English.

One of the visitors on the list for this weekend could very well walk away from the Plains as Auburn football’s newest commitment to the class of 2023. 3-star offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson has not yet been ready to decide between Auburn, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Missouri, but he told Auburn Undercover that some “major movement” could potentially happen after his Auburn official visit.

While Wilson has been to the Plains twice this summer, he has not yet visited North Carolina or Missouri, and it appears that Auburn football are the clear leaders in his recruitment so far. No decision timeline is set in stone for the OL, but he told Auburn Live he is ready to focus on his senior season, so this weekend could be when he will make his announcement.

Gernorris Wilson is ranked as the #94 inside offensive lineman in the recruiting class of 2023 and is the #172 recruit out of the state of Florida. With any luck, he will leave the Plains this weekend as an Auburn football commit.
