No one hates Josh Pate, except maybe Penn State, because of what he feels might be fate. In a tweet Wednesday afternoon, the ‘Late Kick’ host predicted an Auburn football upset via the voodoo inside Jordan-Hare Stadium overcoming the Nittany Lions in a potential ‘bellwether’ Week 3 clash.

The respected analyst always brings a down-to-earth vibe to his college football coverage as opposed to the more sensationalized national coverage you might see on some of the biggest sports talk shows.

Pate doesn’t peddle predictions of Pitt and Texas A&M in the College Football Playoff — FYI both teams are 1-1. Instead, he gives nuanced takes like the Tigers taking the orange-out revenge game against Penn State following a close game last season.

Auburn football and Penn State odds are shifting towards the Tigers

Movement has been slight for the Penn State-Auburn football rematch from last year’s Week 3 clash — which was riddled with controversy considering the targeting call on Zakoby McClain in the fourth quarter of that game would have forced a turnover on downs.

The odds have shifted slightly in AU’s favor for many sportsbooks, edging down from 3 to 2.5 on the spread in favor of Penn State. Things could continue to move in the coming days as the hype for Saturday’s game continues to build.

While the Tigers are coming off a disappointing effort against San Jose State where the two teams appeared even physically, particularly AU’s OL against SJSU’s defensive front, it’s possible Auburn overlooked the Spartans just as San Jose State looked past Portland State the week before.

Penn State has handled their business this season in a tough West Lafayette, Indiana road environment Week 1 against Purdue and then again last week against the Ohio Bobcats at home. But those games didn’t feature Jordan-Hare voodoo.
