Auburn football is apparently the best fit for Deion Sanders, who has elevated SWAC school Jackson State to its best record ever and to be a program the top recruit in the nation, 5-star CB Travis Hunter, would flip from a Power Five school to join.

‘Prime Time’ is one of the most coveted names on the coaching market and is being considered for openings at Arizona State, who fired Herm Edwards after a loss to Eastern Michigan from the MAC, and Nebraska, who ousted Scott Frost following an embarrassing loss to Georgia Southern.

Andy Staples of The Athletic believes Sanders is the best person to lead a Tigers turnaround on the Plains because of his recruiting success on a national scale — which would theoretically only increase with an increased budget recruiting for Auburn football as opposed to an FCS program.

Here was Staples’ explanation for why Sanders and Auburn are a match made in heaven:

Deion Sanders wants the Florida State HC job, not Auburn football

As great as it would be to have ‘Prime Time’ on the Plains, Auburn football makes very little sense to be the next landing spot for Deion Sanders given how successful his tenure has been for Jackson State.

Truthfully, Sanders has his eyes on the Florida State job Mike Norvell currently occupies. The Seminoles retired his No. 2 after a four-year career in Tallahassee in which the cornerback won the Jim Thorpe award and was a 2x Unanimous All-American.

FSU is off to a 3-0 start with wins over LSU and Louisville, so Norvell is likely safe. But Sanders is circling like a shark for the Florida State job.
