Auburn football escaped by the skin of their teeth against Missouri in one of the most disappointing late-game performances ever put forth by Mizzou, and their quarterback from 2019-2021, Bo Nix, had a similar day.

His Oregon Ducks were down 34-29 with a minute and 32 seconds left in the fourth quarter before finding receiver Troy Franklin for a 50-yard touchdown toss and followed it up with a two-point conversion he called his own number for to give them a 37-34 lead. Oregon linebacker Mase Funa quickly took a pick-six to the house that put the game out of reach for good, although Washington State spread bettors got a backdoor cover on a last-second touchdown.

Sidenote: I really once had the nerve to say that WSU quarterback Cameron Ward wasn’t worth a look in the transfer portal last December coming out of Incarnate Word due to the presence of Dematrius Davis. Every Auburn football fan alive would take the spectacular Ward under center right now.

Speaking of, the Tigers had their own stressful day, complete with 135 passing yards from the quarterbacks. It took a last second missed field goal from Mizzou that would have ended the game and probably ended the Bryan Harsin era on the Plains as well. Bo Nix, on the other hand, ended up with 428 passing yards, another 30 on the ground, and three touchdowns (and a red zone pick-six) against Wazzu.

Twitter was boisterous regarding Nix’s monstrous day in Pullman:

Former Auburn football QB Bo Nix surpassed his career-high in passing yards by 51 against Washington State

Bo Nix’s last game for Auburn football was his all-time best from a yardage perspective, throwing for 377 yards before he injured his ankle and was never to be seen on the Plains again. In his fourth game with Oregon, he has already surpassed that against a Pac-12 team.

Nix certainly has it easier away from the SEC, given his one sub-200 yard performance this season was against Georgia.
