Auburn football fans are being picky about who they want their next head coach to be after what has been a debacle of a coaching stint for former long-time Boise State Broncos head coach Bryan Harsin.

One coach they seem to definitively deny the premise of is recently fired Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule. Rhule only won 10 games in his first two seasons as an NFL head coach even after the league expanded the schedule to 17 games.

Of course, Rhule is from New York City, so half the fanbase doesn’t want him to come to the Plains solely based on that fact. Apparently, they didn’t get the memo that Bruce Pearl is from Boston, but I digress. The right man for the job may well be from the south, but that sort of ignorance is absent in Knoxville, where South Dakota man Josh Heupel is running the No. 6 team in the country.

Regardless of where he is from, Auburn football fans want no part of the failed NFL head coach and let that be known on Twitter October 10, minutes after Rhule was removed from his post:

Auburn football fans want someone who may not want them back

One of the most popular names to come up for the Tigers’ coaching job by the fanbase — as Bryan Harsin goes through his likely closing stretch stretch as head coach — is Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin.

Auburn football fans have practically begged Kiffin to consider the Plains this season, but this Saturday’s opponent’s lead locker-room voice is more likely to be considered by the Panthers, as well as other NFL teams, before giving the Tigers another serious look.
