Auburn football quarterback Robby Ashford was seen frustrated when he was pulled for T.J. Finley in the first half for one drive, but it was after the Tigers scored their first touchdown when things got truly explosive.

Tank Bigsby, who was seemingly miffed at not getting his number called at the 2-yard line, got into it with Ashford. Ashford could be seen screaming at the running back not to give up on him just yet.

The Tigers responded by scoring a second straight touchdown on their next drive, showing life in Oxford against a No. 9-ranked Ole Miss Rebels — whose head coach, Lane Kiffin, is one of the top targets for Auburn football’s next head coach.

Auburn football must commit to Robby Ashford as QB1

Robby Ashford has struggled under center thus far in his first season on the Plains, but a lot of that has to do with an offensive line that grades as one of the SEC’s worst along with Texas A&M’s.

T.J. Finley has missed several weeks during the 2022 season, but even when he played he looked marginally better than he did last year — when Auburn football lost its final three games with the LSU transfer starting.

If this team has any chance of being bowl eligible, Bryan Harsin (or whoever replaces him) must commit to Ashford under center. His dual-threat dynamicism makes him a better fit behind such a weak OL, and he has more support from a fanbase that needs a hero in the worst way possible here in the second half of the 2022 season.
