Former Auburn football wideout and current Cleveland Browns WR Anthony Schwartz asked the question many fans rife with regret have asked over the past several weeks as the 2022 season has fallen apart.

During the first half of the Tigers’ SEC West clash with Ole Miss Week 7, one in which the Rebels jumped out to a 21-0 lead after turnovers from both Robby Ashford and T.J. Finley under center, Schwartz asked if the typical scapegoats were still under fire.

“Do Gus and Bo still get the blame or nah?”

Schwartz shared the tweet from his verified Twitter account seemingly in disgust at both the on-field product two years removed from his own stint on the Plains, and at the constant ragging fans directed towards his head coach, Gus Malzahn, and his quarterback, Bo Nix.

The grass is greener for former Auburn football head coach Gus Malzahn and former Tigers signal-caller Bo Nix

It’s undeniable at this point: both Gus Malzahn and Bo Nix are living their best lives away from the same Auburn football program they were given responsibility for not leading to the next level. Unfortunately, most Tiger fans would kill to get back to an eight-to-nine-win threshold after a season and a half of sub-.500 football.

It won’t happen with Malzahn as the Auburn football head coach given how his UCF Knights are rolling with a 5-1 record and an offense that is clowning AAC opponents. Nor will it happen with Bo Nix under center, since his Oregon Ducks are similarly dominating with a 5-1 record — with their only loss coming to Georgia — and since the signal-caller from Pinson is legitimately a dark horse Heisman candidate this season.

The grass is greener for those who were chased off the Plains.
