With Bryan Harsin’s time as Auburn football head coach now in the rearview mirror, the road ahead features a second coaching search in three years with new athletic director John Cohen now officially on board.

As of now, the role will be filled on an interim by running backs coach Carnell Williams, which should undoubtedly fire up a fanbase and team that has had “Cadillac” on staff since the 2019 season.

After these next 4 games, though, a true coaching search will be conducted and figures to include some of the most notable names in the sport as candidates for one of the country’s most high-profile jobs.

Former Auburn football offensive lineman Cole Cubelic of WJOX 94.5 FM and the SEC Network confirmed as much when he revealed BetOnline.ag’s odds for who will be the next Tigers’ play-caller*:

Current coaches being top candidates for Auburn football head coach means Cadillac Williams is likely to finish season as HC

The top three names for BetOnline.ag’s Auburn football next head coach odds are all currently employed — Hugh Freeze at Liberty, Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss, and Deion Sanders at Jackson State — meaning that Cadillac Williams will likely get to coach these final 4 games of the 2022 season.

Freeze being the top name is somewhat surprising considering his recent extension with Liberty and because Kiffin was called the top name to watch in the coaching search by 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello. ‘Prime Time’ being present on this list isn’t surprising considering the buzz he’s created in talking of taking that next step to the Power Five level.

Further down, Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach and Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops are listed. Derek Mason’s boss, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy, is also present. What was that talk of Auburn football not being a top job?
