Auburn football will be without T.J. Finley for the Tigers’ November 5 clash with Mississippi State at Davis Wade Stadium, and it doesn’t sound like the fanbase will be missing him very much — if, unfortunately, at all.

Finley has been benched since the Penn State game, in which he completed 11/19 passes and 152 yards with an interception — though he did make an appearance on a drive against Ole Miss in which he didn’t attempt a pass and was sacked on the only play he dropped back on. On the season, he has thrown 1 touchdown to 4 interceptions, with the touchdown coming against FCS Mercer.

This season started off on a weird foot for Finley, being wanted by the police for evading the police on a scooter after committing a traffic violation, and it further was complicated once Robby Ashford took over as the starter against Mizzou and never let go of the QB1 reins possibly due to comments made by Finley’s father about offensive schemes.

It now appears as though his time with the team could be in question with Finley’s absence from Auburn football’s road trip being described as a “mental health break” for the junior quarterback. That might be good news to some…

Auburn football fans aren’t missing T.J. Finley against Mississippi State

With the news breaking that T.J. Finley will not be under center no matter the circumstances against Mississippi State, Auburn football fans took to Twitter to celebrate with jokes and less than kind words about his absence:

Finley can take a redshirt and have 3 years of eligibility left if he doesn’t play another snap. The 6-foot-6 signal-caller could feasibly follow Bryan Harsin wherever he ends up since the Boise native had an affinity for him and played Finley even when fans wanted anyone else under center.

Either way, Finley is likely done with Auburn football.
