Auburn football: This coach would make Bo Hughley reconsider AU flip
The Auburn football team has begun a new era under Cadillac Williams, and that was undeniably clear in the Tigers’ performance against Mississippi State over the weekend. Though the team “failed the mission” in the words of Coach Caddy, they grew and got better.
Despite all the adversity, the team played with a level of fight and determination that we have not seen all season, playing arguably their best defense and best second half of the entire season. However, the on-field product is not the only thing Cadillac has to worry about as head coach– don’t forget about recruiting.
Earlier this summer, the Tigers were on the verge of flipping UGA offensive line commit Bo Hughley. Committed to Kirby Smart and the Dawgs since last September, Hughley had a grand time on the Plains for Big Cat Weekend, and nearly flipped, but stayed committed to Georgia.
Notably, Hughley had a tight relationship with former head coach Bryan Harsin, so the offensive tackle was disappointed with his firing, but another staff member is keeping the Tigers in the race. His best relationship throughout his Auburn football recruitment is with Steven Ruzic, who is now in charge of recruiting and personnel.
Hughley expressed that he would like to get to know Cadillac more, and has plenty of time before he plans to sign in February, but for now, Ruzic is keeping Hughley interested in Auburn football.
According to Auburn Undercover, the UGA commit is strongly considering taking a second official visit to the Plains once the new coaching staff is in place, and there’s one coaching candidate that would get Hughley back to campus for sure:
"“I might take that, I might not,” Hughley said. “I don’t really know Cadillac like that. But depending on the coach that they get, I might slide.”One coach in particular has Hughley’s eye.“I think Deion was on the table,” Hughley said. “If Deion go up there, I’m going to look.”"
Once a new coaching staff is put in place, recruiting will heat up again, but for now, Cadillac and the rest of the remaining staffers are keeping the Tigers moving forward.
