The Auburn football team is riding the high of a victory for the first time in quite awhile during the 2022 season after interim head coach Cadillac Williams led the Tigers to a win over the Texas A&M Aggies this past weekend.

The Auburn football fanbase spent a good bit of this season down on the Bryan Harsin-led Tigers after the loss to Penn State and the lack of improvements throughout the rest of the season up to his firing. Life was injected back into the program with the naming of Coach Caddy as interim HC, and it has been incredible to watch the fans, players, and coaching staff rally around him.

When it comes to the search for the Tigers’ next head coach, the fan favorite for quite awhile has been Lane Kiffin, and now it’s widely believed that he is the favorite of those in charge of making the hire, as well.

However, people are now clamoring for Cadillac to get a shot at the job, and it’s not just the fans. SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum praised Coach Caddy for breathing life back into the program and creating such an outstanding experience for a team that had only three wins heading into that game, per 1819 News:

"“[T]he idea that Carnell Williams, without any head coaching experience, can slay the biggest name this side of Nick Saban in college football, was just downright amazing to watch,” Finebaum outlined. “And I could just hear in my own mind bars across America cheering for Carnell Williams because it was really inspiring to watch that story develop in real time for the second Saturday in a row.”Finebaum added, “[I] think you have to consider Carnell Williams today as a legitimate candidate for the job.”"

While it’s unlikely that Cadillac becomes the next official head coach of Auburn football, there’s no doubt that he is an extremely important part of the program, and it’s likely that he will be retained on staff once the next coach is chosen.
