Opelika-Auburn News deputy editor Justin Lee, a man no one can confuse with a fan of the last Auburn football coach, took a shot at currently unemployed Boise native Bryan Harsin on Twitter for his lack of humility.

Harsin, of course, was fired unceremoniously on Halloween with a press release from new AD John Cohen after a 9-12 record in two seasons at the coaching helm for the Tigers. In his place is the running backs coach since 2019, under both Harsin and Gus Malzahn, Carnell “Cadillac” Williams.

Williams had called on the Auburn family to show up in support of his team with non-conference opponent Western Kentucky coming to the Plains for the Tigers’ final home game of the 2022 season on November 19, and his quote was shared by Rivals’ Bryan Matthews.

Lee quote tweeted Matthews and shared a shot at Harsin for never showing humility during his roughly 22-month run as Auburn football head coach:

Bryan Harsin lost Auburn football fans with his empty press conference claims

When Bryan Harsin first arrived in front of the local press as the Auburn football head coach, he promised that his teams would do the little things necessary to win games. His Tigers proceeded to get crushed in the ‘middle eight,’ accrue boneheaded penalties on both sides of the ball, and lose in the trenches — particularly on the offensive end. Harsin didn’t deliver on his proclamations originally, and continually gave the line that his teams ‘just need to execute.’

That they never did is why Cadillac Williams is now in charge of the Auburn Tigers and Harsin is likely off to a team with less luster like Colorado. When it came to Harsin’s teams, they gave it their all and never quit on him or the AU faithful. His schemes didn’t work, and worse yet, his encouragement to fans after losses was merely empty rhetoric.
