Auburn basketball vanquished their first Cancun Challenge opponent, Bradley, in spread-covering fashion last night and will now take on an undefeated Northwestern Wildcats squad on Wednesday, November 23 to decide the winner of the tournament on CBS Sports Network at 7:30 pm central.

The Tigers shot a blistering 47.5% from the 3-point line in their beatdown of the Braves on Tuesday, winning both the battle on the boards and the turnover battle in their finest effort of the season to date. Wendell Green Jr. continued his hot start (minus the Texas Southern game) with a 14-point, six-assist, three-rebound, three-steal performance against Bradley, while Jaylin Williams further solidified his starting spot with 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists on 4/6 shooting overall and 2/3 shooting from the 3-point line.

AU is built around several upperclassmen veterans, which should serve them well against a veteran Northwestern team that features six upperclassmen who soak up most of the minutes, plus sophomore Brooks Barnhizer. The Wildcats are third in the Big Ten in rebounds per game (41.2)  and are also second in points per game allowed (53.4) so they won’t be a pushover by any means.

Northwestern vs. Auburn prediction

Bruce Pearl had his group looking electric from the field shooting-wise, though their turnovers were higher than the George Mason and Winthrop matchups. If they can limit turnovers against Northwestern, they have a chance at covering the spread against a Wildcats team that struggles with shooting efficiency.

The safest bet of all, though, could be the under for the two teams playing a second game in as many nights.

Prediction: 134.5u (-110)
