Auburn football fans didn’t need Lane Kiffin reminding them about the Alabama 7A State Championship matchup on November 30, but there the Ole Miss Rebels coach was keeping his name fresh in the heads of Tiger fans.

Kiffin, of course, was the leading candidate to take over the AU head coaching role following the firing of Bryan Harsin on October 31, but he ultimately passed on the job to remain in Oxford — opening the door for Hugh Freeze to be hired as Plan B.

Tiger fans felt victimized by Kiffin, who has been tweeting at Auburn football in a patronizing fashion since his decision to extend his contract with Ole Miss for seven years at $9 million per season — squashing the idea that he was only eligible for four-year contracts due to Mississippi laws. They shared as much (and a few other things) on social media:

Auburn football Class of 2023 recruit in action at Alabama 7A state championship

Auburn football Class of 2023 OL Bradyn Joiner was playing for the Auburn High Tigers on Wednesday, November 30 during the Alabama 7A state championship, held inside the confines of Jordan-Hare Stadium and complete with a pre-game eagle flight.

It was a nice JHS showing for Joiner, who could see action immediately in 2023 with offensive line help sorely needed for a depleted 2022 group. Unfortunately, his Auburn HS Tigers fell to Thompson — and their superstar eighth grader quarterback Trent Seaborn, who went for 207 passing yards and five touchdowns — in a 49-24 rout.
