Auburn football: Dan Lanning reveals Bo Nix’s future plans
Bo Nix isn’t following the offensive coordinator that got the best out of him on the Plains and in Eugene, Kenny Dillingham, and he certainly isn’t going to be returning to Auburn football with Bryan Harsin fired — even if the Boise native was what made Nix fall out of love with AU.
So what will Nix do next? Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning recently revealed the Pinson, Alabama product’s future plans, and it certainly seems to point to college football soon seeing the last of No. 10.
“He’s a guy who has an opportunity to compete and move on in the NFL Draft and has put himself in a position to do that,” Lanning said (h/t 247Sports’ Jared Mack). “I think he’s going to go take a chance to go to the Senior Bowl, but I don’t want to speak for him too much, but I think right now in preparation for the draft.”
Former Auburn football quarterback Bo Nix is ready for the NFL
Bo Nix showed flashes of being capable of one day taking snaps at the NFL level during his days leading the Auburn football offense, but it’s his 2022 season that has defined his collegiate career as a bona fide pro quarterback.
Nix rivaled past Ducks greats like Marcus Mariota and Justin Herbert during his time in Eugene, and while he won’t be at the top of draft boards, he could be a great day two get for franchises that missed out on their preferred signal-calling target in the first round.
While it is truly a shame that Nix couldn’t achieve those heights with the Tigers, it’s good to see that he did eventually achieve it. As a dual-threat with similar physical measurables to Aaron Rodgers and Jimmy Garoppolo, there is most certainly a fit out there for Nix in the National Football League.
