The Auburn football program has closed the book on the Bryan Harsin era and has officially moved into the Hugh Freeze era. The new HC and his staff have hit the ground running when it comes to recruiting, already taking visits at schools and in homes across the country.

The most highly-ranked recruit on the Tigers’ 2023 roster so far is running back Jeremiah Cobb out of Montgomery Catholic. The 4-star is the #152 overall prospect and the #5 running back in the recruiting class of 2023, and is the #14 recruit out of the state of Alabama.

During the chaos of the 2022 season, around the time where everyone was simply waiting for Harsin to lose his job, Cobb was spotted repping a Georgia towel and even went to visit the Dawgs’ campus, but after an in-person visit from Hugh Freeze and some other members of staff, it appears that Cobb is fully locked in with Auburn football.

The running back has a close relationship with Cadillac Williams, and the assurance that Williams would still be on the Plains in 2023 was a big deal to Cobb although the new staff members worked hard to express to him that he is still a major priority for the program, per Auburn Live:

"“He came down to visit and he said I was his first person to come see,” Cobb said. “He said that I was just a big priority for the staff and for the team next year.“It was very important to me,” Cobb said. ” It showed that I was actually a big priority, you know.”"

Though Cobb has already officially visited the Plains, he will be allowed the opportunity to officially visit again due to the new coaching staff, and he plans to make the trip within the next two weeks. While Hugh Freeze will certainly face recruiting challenges, keeping the Tigers’ #1 recruit from the 2023 class is a good start.
