It’s that time of the year again–the time when recruiting intel gets crazy as the recruiting period winds down and is replaced with the early signing period. The Auburn football program will looking to have a much more successful early signing period than last year, when they finished up with 16 signees.
Currently, the Tigers have 13 commits, many of whom stuck around through the coaching change, but also quite a few who gave their pledge to Auburn football after Hugh Freeze took over the team. With many priority targets looking to sign on December 21, including prospects out of high school and junior college as well as the transfer portal, things are expected to change a lot over the next week.
Throughout the Bryan Harsin era on the Plains, the coaching staff never shied away from trying to pull off a difficult flip, and it seems that mentality will be sticking around for the Hugh Freeze era. One of those flips the Tigers are looking to pull off is that of 4-star cornerback Kayin Lee, who is currently committed to Ohio State and has been since June of this year.
According to Chad Simmons of On3, Lee has a very strong relationship with the Tigers’ secondary coach Zac Etheridge, and he had a great experience on his first trip to the Plains:
"“That visit really opened my eyes. I have a good relationship with coach Zac Etheridge. That is big for me. I see a good chance to play early there and the people take care of each other there."
With Zac Etheridge working along side Wesley McGriff on the recruiting trail, the Auburn football program has a real chance to flip Lee, who is ranked as the #21 cornerback in the class of 2023 and the #19 recruit out of the state of Georgia.
