Auburn football recruiting: Class of 2024 QB crystal-balled to Ole Miss but loves Hugh Freeze
While Class of 2024 Little Rock Christian Academy quarterback Walker White currently has a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports to join Ole Miss, Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze has left a strong impression on the highly-coveted high school signal-caller.
The same week White received offers from Miami and Texas A&M, the six-foot-three physical dual-threat went on a recruiting visit on the Plains that he graded out as a 10/10 in which he formed a close bond with Freeze due to sharing a similar spiritual outlook.
On3’s Keith Niebuhr reported the promising details of White’s recent visit on Monday, January 16:
Auburn football questions at quarterback
While Auburn football lost Adrian Posse this past weekend, the 2024 quarterback room outlook for the Tigers is still looking bright. It’s never a shock to see a recruit de-commit from a program following a coaching change, and Bryan Harsin’s departure was always going to lead to his successor re-shaping the offense — starting with the kingpin under center.
When Hugh Freeze took over the Tigers, it didn’t take long for him to flip a quarterback he recruited to Liberty, Hank Brown. Other than him, there’s still a question of whether or not he will merely inherit the QBs of the previous regime or slowly phase in his own guys.
Robby Ashford has made a point to back the new coach, so the Hoover product is likely sticking around. But as the spring approaches, it will be interesting to see how much (or little) red-shirt freshman Holden Geriner is prioritized. A quarterback added through the portal like Spencer Sanders would most certainly bury him on the depth chart for good. Whether or not he would want to ride the pine is a legitimate worry considering his arm talent.
Nothing is finalized under center in the Freeze regime other than Brown’s addition. What happens next could continue to further alienate what things were like under Harsin.
