Class of 2023 AU recruit, Keldric Faulk, is now officially a 5-star recruit per Rivals, as revealed by their final 5-star countdown — and that fact has Tiger fans over the moon Hugh Freeze was able to land a 5-star recruit in his first month as the head coach of Auburn football.
Faulk recently revealed that he had flipped his recruitment from Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles support staff to the Plains because of the change from Bryan Harsin to Freeze this past November. Knowing that the ability to land a 5-star recruit is the difference between Harsin and Freeze should make it easier to sleep at night for Tiger fans. The highest-ranked recruit in the 2022 high school class was Robert Woodyard, who was ranked 141 nationally in the cycle.
Auburn football fans couldn’t hide their glee seeing that Freeze now has such an accomplishment on his resume:
Keldric Faulk’s explanation for choosing Auburn football
Keldric Faulk’s flip was the defining move of Hugh Freeze’s first Early National Signing Day on the Plains. The reason why it was so defining is because his presence singlehandedly caused Faulk’s flip.
Faulk revealed as much at last week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association’s annual Mr. Football banquet:
"“Auburn was really my No. 1 school for two or three years in a row, but there were certain coaching changes that just didn’t fit me personnel-wise. When coach Freeze came in and gave me the opportunity to come look at everything, I took the chance, and I really enjoyed my last visit. I took the time to really think of my decision, and I really felt like Auburn was for me.”"
With all of the negative things posted about Freeze from the major outlets, the proof he is doing his job right comes in the form of the words spoken by the kids he is leaving a positive influence on.
