A poster on Auburn Undercover’s infamous ‘The Bunker’ message board shared a wild theory he heard through the grapevine about Bo Nix bolting Oregon to return to the Plains and finish his collegiate career with Auburn football.

The poster cited a possible COVID exemption that would give Nix his sixth year following his first three at AU, and second two at Oregon and talks that have been taking place at the local watering hole.

Nix just completed a career year in year one at Oregon, though his offensive coordinator that previously got the best out of him on the Tigers too back in 2019, Kenny Dillingham, is now the head coach at Arizona State.

Bo Nix likely to go to NFL draft before ever returning to Auburn football

Watching a new and improved Auburn thrive in 2023 under Hugh Freeze could make Bo Nix consider making a homecoming to the home-state team his father famously played for, but that doesn’t mean No. 10 is walking back through that door at the Woltosz Football Performance Center.

The more likely scenario is Nix playing out his final season in Eugene this fall and taking to the NFL draft in 2024. This year’s class was heavy on quarterback talent, so waiting until next year could make Nix a featured option.

By all accounts, as much as Nix loved AU, he’s loving life more at Oregon. He admitted his final season with Auburn football was ‘miserable’ under Bryan Harsin and his sophomore season was cursed with the COVID-19 pandemic and Chad Morris.

Nix gave Tiger fans unforgettable memories in 2021 down in Death Valley facing LSU, against Arkansas in Fayetteville, and under the lights at Jordan-Hare Stadium versus Ole Miss. But you better make those last, because he won’t be coming back to make anymore in 2024.
