Class of 2024 quarterback commit Walker White is already looking to hit the recruiting trail for Auburn football, specifically calling out several targets he wants to bring with him to the Plains when he graduates from Little Rock Christian Academy next year.
During his Tigers commitment speech on February 3, White called out several positions, including the offensive line and the receiving corps, that he’d like to recruit. The first wideout’s name he said was of particular interest.
That’s because Perry Thompson, a six-foot-three 4-star out of Foley, is already committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. AU has been working to flip Foley, having hosted him on campus back in January.
Auburn football has serious momentum in the Class of 2024
Adrian Posse’s Auburn football decommitment wasn’t all that surprising considering Bryan Harsin was the one who recruited him, but the 2024 QB room loss was still significant nonetheless. Luckily, that has been rectified with White’s commitment.
Hugh Freeze recently said that the trajectory of the program would hinge greatly on the 2024 and 2025 classes. Perhaps building up the hype for the White commitment, Freeze was also speaking bluntly about how this program is going to grow.
By landing the No. 13 QB in the country over Clemson and Ole Miss, both of whom White was crystal-balled to at various points over the past few weeks, Freeze has now made AU an attraction again. And with White now in tow, there will be a serious focus on bringing in offensive line talent to protect him and skill position talent to help make good on his potential as a big-armed pocket passer.
After years of darkness on the recruiting trail and in the standings, the Plains is set to be prosperous again under Freeze. White’s commitment is even more supporting evidence of a statement that has been getting easier to believe each passing day for the past few months.
