Now that it’s official we’ll be seeing Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC in 2024, the world is wondering what the revamped conference schedule is going to look like. Greg Sankey addressed that on the McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning on WJOX 94.5 FM in Birmingham, saying that the conference is moving towards a single division and away from the current two-division setup. On3 imagined a different scenario, though, that would have Alabama and Auburn football joining the SEC East and Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas joining the SEC West.
Geographically, it makes sense. On3’s map reflects that:

The move would also unite blood rivals Alabama and Tennessee in the same division while also bringing the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry game to the SEC East with the SEC West getting the Red River Showdown.

Ultimately, fans were split on On3’s setup.
You have those who felt the split was uneven:
That would be so uneven lol

Then the East would be 10x better😂

West would just be a race to whoever wins at least 9 games.

And those who were on board with the idea:
I like this, best one I have seen.

I mean geographically it makes perfect sense with the addition of OU/UT

This is a good idea

I’m for this

This setup may be a pipe dream, though, as are the pod proposals. An open schedule with only rivalry game obligations each season seems to be where this is headed.
