The Auburn football program is finally hoping to settle into some sort of stability in all aspects this season, from the coaching staff to the roster to recruiting and beyond. Hugh Freeze has been on the Plains for nearly two months, and he and his coaching staff all seem to be on the same page and working towards the same goals.

For the last two seasons, this wasn’t necessarily the case for the staff of the Auburn football program. Former head coach Bryan Harsin saw much turnover on his staff during his two-year tenure, including the firing of his first offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

Bobo’s dismissal came after the downward spiral of the second half of the 2021 season in which the offense largely failed to score in the second half of the games and the record went from 6-2 to a disappointing 6-7.

After leaving the Plains, Bobo took an analyst job with Kirby Smart—his former UGA teammate—and the Georgia Bulldogs, and will be promoted to offensive coordinator ahead of the 2023 season. Bobo previously held the OC position at Georgia from 2006-2014, and Smart is excited to have him in the position again, per Dawg Nation:

"“I am excited to name Mike Bobo our next Offensive Coordinator,” Smart said. “Mike has a decade of experience as a successful SEC play-caller and over 20 years spent at UGA, both as a player and coach.  Mike was an excellent addition to our staff last year as an analyst, and we are looking forward to his expanded leadership on the offensive side of the ball.”"

Bobo will replace Todd Monken as the Dawgs’ offensive coordinator while Monken will be heading to the NFL to coordinate the offense of the Baltimore Ravens. Overall, it will be his 17th season as a staff member for the Georgia Bulldogs.
