It’s that time of year again. All the head coaches and several player representatives, including ones from the Auburn football program, in the Southeastern Conference will gather under one roof for a couple of days to discuss their programs for SEC Media Days.

This year, the event will be slightly different from in years past as it will take place in Nashville rather than in Birmingham, the SEC Headquarters, as usual. Although it won’t be the first time the event is held away from Birmingham—it took place in Atlanta in both 2018 and 2020—it will be the first time it is located in Nashville.

Media Days will take place from July 17 to July 20 this year at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Nashville. As usual, the SEC Network will broadcast the event to a national audience, but fans should not expect a more detailed breakdown of events and appearances until closer to July.

So far, the SEC has only released which days will be dedicated to which teams:

  • Monday, July 17: LSU, Missouri, and Texas A&M
  • Tuesday, July 18: Georgia, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Auburn football
  • Wednesday, July 19: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and Kentucky
  • Thursday, July 20: Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee

Auburn football fans will be excited to hear more from new head coach Hugh Freeze after last year’s SEC Media Days were filled with the drama that was the Bryan Harsin situation. Player representatives at SEC Media Days last year were running back Tank Bigsby, tight end John Samuel Shanker, and edge rusher Derick Hall.

As for predictions on which players will be included this year, quarterback Robby Ashford is probably a safe bet. Jarquez Hunter has received a lot of compliments from running backs coach Cadillac Williams, as of late, so he could be a candidate, as well. We’ll know for sure closer to the summer.
