Recently departed Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford did not appreciate the official Auburn football sharing Owen Pappoe’s massive hit on a scramble that led to a fourth down, and eventually, a turnover on downs on the Nittany Lions’ first drive during the two teams’ September 17, 2022 Week 3 matchup — and he tweeted out a massive put down of the Tigers referencing Penn State’s 2-0 home-and-home sweep in 2021 and 2022:

Things didn’t get better for Pappoe and Auburn during that 41-12 blowout at the hands of Penn State on the Plains. The Nittany Lions won the first matchup in 2021, 28-20, due to a famously botched fourth down goal-line play-call from Mike Bobo that saw Bo Nix throw an incomplete pass to Kobe Hudson on a fade route.

Clifford wanted to remind the official Auburn football Twitter account that though Pappoe won that third down battle, Penn State ultimately won the war. Twice.

Auburn football fans feel there’s little bragging rights to be had because Bryan Harsin was the Tigers head coach

In order to justify Clifford’s putdown to seeing himself being rocked by Pappoe, Tiger fans pointed to the fact that Bryan Harsin was the head coach during the two Penn State losses (WARNING — NSFW LANGUAGE):

This anti-Harsin talk certainly puts extra pressure on Hugh Freeze to perform, but if he does, it appears the narrative moving forward from the Auburn family regarding the 2021 and 2022 seasons will be “but Harsin.”
