Auburn football: Tigers’ 2023 spring practice schedule
Auburn football is back! The Hugh Freeze era on the Plains will truly began this week as the Tigers reported to campus for the first spring practice of the season.
This will be the first real chance that Freeze and the rest of the new coaching staff get to evaluate their players in action and really get to know them after spending the first few months of their tenure on the recruiting trail.
A lot of the focus during these practices will be on evaluating the quarterbacks. Freeze has previously said it is difficult to give a real opinion based on film due to the difficulties faced by the offense last season. TJ Finley, Robby Ashford, and Holden Geriner will all be returning to compete for the QB1 position, though there has been a lot of speculation that Finley plans to transfer following his graduation in May.
Notably, the coaching staff did not pick up a transfer quarterback in the first portal window. Whether or not they choose to go after one, and what kind of transfer they would pursue, will be determined based on spring performances.
The staff will also begin to work on teaching the new schemes to the players. With a new offensive and defensive coordinator on board, there will be a lot to learn on both sides of the ball.
The Auburn football team will practice 15 times this spring, culminating in A-Day in early April. They will participate in Auburn University’s spring break and have no practice the week of March 6-10. Here are all of the 2023 practice dates:
- Monday, February 27
- Wednesday, March 1
- Friday, March 3
- Monday, March 13
- Wednesday, March 15

This is one of the most anticipated spring camps for the Auburn football team in several years, and will be hugely important for the new staff led by head coach Hugh Freeze.
