Departed Auburn football EDGE Derick Hall, a potential day-one NFL draft prospect, recently met with the defending Super Bowl LVII champion Kansas City Chiefs according to the KC Star’s Jesse Newell.
Hall was a participant during Senior Bowl practice but didn’t join teammate Eku Leota for the February 4 showcase in Mobile. The six-foot-three, 250-pounder led the Tigers in sacks during the 2022 season with 6.5, while also amassing two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and an interception.
Derick Hall would finally be on a winning team after Auburn football decline during his Tigers career
Unfortunately, Hall only saw the Auburn football program get worse every single year he was on the Plains. After the Tigers won nine games his freshman season, the Tigers went 6-4 during the all-SEC COVID season before two straight losing seasons under Bryan Harsin — which included a 3-10 finish over the final 13 games under the Boise native.
Things looked up after Harsin was let go from a team perspective, but Hall was actually on the field less down the stretch of what was already a lost season by the time Carnell “Cadillac” Williams took over as the interim head coach. His counting stats took a hit because of that.
After suffering through the Harsin era, Hall could be rewarded with an winning situation from the jump of his NFL career, similar to K.J. Britt being drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2021 Super Bowl.
While he could’ve been a bigger household name had Auburn not been going through a down period for the program, Hall could see his notoriety skyrocket with the Chiefs should they draft him in late April.
