New Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze knows that recruiting is key to his success on the Plains. From the jump, Freeze and his staff have worked hard to lay strong foundations on the recruiting trail, both for the 2023 class and the classes of the future.
There has already been plenty of good news in the recruiting department, from the flip of 5-star Keldric Faulk on signing day to the surprise commitment of 2024 quarterback Walker White. It seems like the momentum of the Freeze staff isn’t stopping anytime soon.
Earlier this week, several analysts put in a prediction for Auburn football to land 4-star tight end Martavious Collins. A native of Rome, Georgia, Collins is ranked as the #158 overall prospect and #21 ATH in the recruiting class of 2024, and is the #25 recruit out of the Peach State. Though some schools have been recruiting Collins as a defensive end, but the Auburn is recruiting him as a tight end.
Collins was in attendance for the Tigers’ Junior Day at the end of January, but at the time he was committed to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Shortly after his visit to the Plains, Collins walked back his pledge to Alabama, and is strongly considered switching sides to the orange and blue.
According to Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston, Collins is hearing from tight ends coach Ben Aigamaua quite frequently and has already locked in an A-Day visit on April 8. The Locked on Auburn podcast confirmed that future QB Walker White has been recruiting Collins to the Plains, and one of the key reasons for the tight end’s interest could be early playing time as the Tigers’ tight end room will shrink down next season.
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, so it’s possible that Martavious Collins could be the next player to join Auburn football’s recruiting class of 2024.
